THE PROJECT
Nerd Quiz is a little mobile game I made on Unreal Engine 5 during my free time.
It is a simple Quiz Game about video games and the gaming industry.
There are 3 game modes:
- Classic: 10 questions, 15 seconds per question, for a quick game!
- Marathon: unlimited questions, 3 lives, go as far as possible!
- Time Trial: answer as many question as you can in 180 seconds!
By answering questions, you earn coins that you can spend to obtain power-ups and Pixel Art icons I made myself.
THE CHALLENGE
Coding the game wasn't particularly difficult. The biggest challenge was getting it to work on mobile.
Epic's documentation is outdated, and many of the engine's mobile dependencies and plugins are deprecated.
Successfully updating these plugins, getting ads and IAPs working, and properly configuring the engine (without documentation) was very challenging but rewarding.
